Fear!
We all knew, we experienced it.
It’s a normal thing, all of us
have the feeling.
It makes us unable to expand ourself.
It becomes a hindrance.
‘Normal fear protects us and motivate
us to improve. Abnormal fear distorts,
poisons and paralyses us. We should
conquer the fear, not the contrary.’
(Martin Luther King, Jr)
What’s the difference between…
a brave and a coward?
a champion and a loser?
They all have it, fear!
But a brave decided to face it as
challenge. A champion use it as motivation.
While a coward, defeated by fear.
And a loser, quitted earlier.
What’s normal fear?
When you walk, you see ahead of you,
there were riots. It is wise not to
continue your journey. Find another path,
don’t be silly.
It is better to be a coward for a minute,
than to return home as dead body
(Irish proverb)
Or… when your boss said
‘What have you done?
Please be more serious.’
Or your grades is flopping.
Your teacher or lecturer is disappointed.
The alarm sounded. Fear, and you’re
motivated to improve.
Abnormal fear made us unwilling
to improve, pushed us to surrender
and insisted you to say: I’M DONE
Now listen…
Once lives a frog who can jump very high.
Catch it, put it into a glass, then
hours later, it can only jump
AS HIGH AS the limit, the same height
of the glass, though you already release it.
Habit
Our self-concept
Stereotype
Lack of confidence
Mock from others
Comfort zone
Whatever, that’s your glass that makes you
(the frog) believe that
‘This is my maximum limit! And I will never
jump any higher.’
Wake up!
Break that limitation!
You don’t live by other’s expectation.
Cause God wants us to jump higher.
To be the light of the world.
To shine as stars.
To be the head, to lead, to be excellent.
It’s your choice now…
Are you feel comfortable to stay in that glass?
OR… Say it yourself…
I want to break my limitation.
I can jump higher.
Io ricordo una persona che puo saltare
piu alto.
I remember a person that can jump higher.
He is Fabio Cannavaro, the captain of
azzuri squad who have won the world cup 2006,
also the award of best football player from
FIFA, UEFA and France Football magazine.
He is only 176 cm, but can run faster and
defend stronger.

He can do it and be the best!
He didn’t make excuses
"Scusi, io sono corto."
"Sorry, I am short."
"Excusa, yo soy corto."
So… do you still want to find a reason?
When we feel afraid, our brain is reacting
this way…
Hold your forehead, it’s LOBUS FRONTALIS.
There, with that part, we think, we use logic,
count, make plan and have rational thought.
Now hold both sides of your temple, between
the ears and eyes, where you may put your
glasses stick. That’s LYMBIC AREA.
It controls our emotion. When we are aroused
by fear, our brain ready to contact
the Department of HORMONE.
Mr.HYPOTHALAMUS, Señor HIPPOCAMPUS,
Signor AMYGDALA are there.
They command the PITUITARY GLAND
Release the ADRENALINE!
The effect?
Then we become stressed. We breathe faster and
it affected heart-beats,
we start to spill sweats, the eye pupils
become wider, muscle grew larger
We become aware!
It gives us the choices:
FIGHT or FLIGHT
Face the challenge or run away from it.
Do something to win or quit.
The problem is, when our brain is conquered
by adrenaline, our rational function is
decreasing. That’s when we say:
When you’re emotional, you can’t think.
Self control, that’s the key.
See what makes you feel afraid.
Is it rational?
Is it a threat or a challenge?
Compare the risk and the benefit.
Decide what you should do.
Well, it is said that 360 times,
the phrase DON’T BE AFRAID quoted
in the Bible. Almost everyday, God
reminds us the same message:
Non aver paura!
No tener temor!
Jangan takut!
Now, if you would, please stand up…
Yes, don’t be shy!
Let’s count, at three we will
jump together and shout it loud…
One…
Two…
Oh, come on…
I’m waiting for you, get on your feet.
Yes, now, please…
Ready?
One… two… three
YEAH!
Questo anno io voglio per saltare piu alto
This year I want to jump higher
Esto ano yo quiero para saltar mas alto
But you’re not a frog
He gives us the strength.
He is The Almighty.
Many people felt tired and lost their
enthusiasm, but with Him, you’ll get
the power.
Wait upon Him, daily…
Then you shall renew your strength.
You shall run and not be weary
Spread your wings, and ready to fly!
HIGHER!
But remember… no matter how far
one day you’ll fly, one day you must
return to the ground.
Feel your steps on earth,
keep your heart humble,
and always realize that one day
to the ground you shall return.
But before He calls you to return home,
He wants you to reach the sky.
Don’t be afraid!
Stop making excuses!
Wait upon Him, renew your strength…
HIGHER!
‘Idealism is as stars in sky. We may never
get there, but it guides our journey
to reach our ultimate purpose.’
(Carl Schurz)
